The best thing I ever did for my mother
As many may know, my mother is a pack rat. She saves EVERYTHING! And one of the things she saved were me and my sister's baby clothes (remember, I'm now 33 years old). About two years ago I had an idea to make a baby quilt with them. I told mom a little white lie (my first ever...I swear!) and said that Kayla wanted to know if she would send her the baby clothes so Kayla could use them on her baby dolls. Of course mom sent them out the next day. So for about 1 1/2 years they sat in the same box/bag that my mom sent them in. I knew that when I did finally make the quilt I wanted to give it to her when both Rochelle and I could be present. So finally, the opportunity arises when we all plan to meet up in Springfield, MO for Rochelle's college graduation. About 4 weeks before our trip I approached a lady in our church who I knew did some quilting. She willingly agreed to help me with the project. After much hesitation, the first cut was made and from then on there was no turning back. Veronica busted her butt and the result was a beautiful quilt that my mom will be able to cherish forever. Again, thank you Veronica...I couldn't have done it without you! Below are a series of pictures capturing the moment. Mom, if you reading this, know that I love you and appreciate all that you have ever done for me. May there be as much tenderness in my arms as there were in your arms when you held us in those little outfits!
